Listener crossword 4013: A Game of 1 by Glow-worm

Another Game of 1 by Glow-worm, this time, was based on Hunt the Slipper. In this game the solver was IT and had to hunt the slipper hidden by a group of children. In the perimeter appeared a quotation from Elizabeth Barrett Browning – “Producing what? A pair of slippers, Sir, to put on when you’re weary.” Misprints in clues gave a partial quotation from Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable – “some… physical contact even if decorous.” Eight clues were unusual in that the definition of the entry was accompanied by the word SLIPPER in (22) PLAIN VIEW, interrupted by anagrams of two children. Gregson has indicated the anagrams by underlining them. The initial letters gave the other title to this puzzle, describing Glow-worm, SLIPPERY CUSTOMER. This had to be written under the grid and then the word SLIPPER (a pair of slippers) could be located twice in the grid forming a cross in the region of 32 across. In Gregson’s opinion this was all great fun.

Misprinted letters in clues are shown in bold. Letter mixes in clues are underlined.
