4001: The French Can? by Alban

This was the final Listener of the late Alban (Will Scotland) and it certainly was an example of an earlier style of puzzle. The title can be resolved as LA +TIN and all the entries were Latin words. Where an entry could not be found in its alphabetical position in Chambers Alban hid a jumble of the word where it was located.

The unclued entries were QUOD ERAT DEMONSTRANDUM, which was hinted at by the word conclusive in the preamble.

The letters to be jumbled (in 12 instances) are underlined in clues and the solution shown in square brackets.
