3996: Half a Ton by Llig

This was a nicely themed puzzle from Llig. The clues were written in a musical theme, occasionally pushing the boundaries to gain this effect.

The  the unclued perimeter gave the names of two musical pieces - ON WENLOCK EDGE,  SERENADE TO MUSIC and their composer, RALPH VAUGHAN WILLIAMS. Other works by Vaughan Williams were mentioned in clues. The title was a reference to the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death on 26 August 1958.
