3937 Men in Her Life by Raich

This puzzle by a new compiler had the theme of the men in the life of George Eliot. The letters latent and first letters of extra words gave BRAY, LEWES, CROSS, the names of men that she was associated with, and PEN-NAME FOR REAL NAME TITLES OF TWO BOOKS. In the completed grid solvers could discern MARIAN EVANS, the real name of the writer. This name had to be changed to GEORGE ELIOT and then it was possible to highlight the names of SILAS MARNER and ADAM BEDE.

Gregson enjoyed this for its very sound and often amusing clues. Changing the name to George Eliot resulted in some nonsense words but the change was confirmed by the E in BEDE.
